R21 is a restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam where the food is the reason to come. Opened in November 2023 by chef-owner Orlando David.
Orlando is an Amsterdam-born chef of Chilean-Colombian descent who started cooking at 15. After two decades in prestigious kitchens across the Netherlands, he opened R21 his own place, exactly 21 years later.
His food is international and ever-evolving, rooted in high-quality products and a lifelong curiosity for the world’s cuisines. A chef should not be limited by geography, but inspired by it.
R21 is housed in a beautifully restored monumental building, where original features meet a sleek modern interior, warm, elegant, and unlike anywhere else in the city.
